Getting to Know Me: Assumptions

Hey girl, hey! In effort to transparently share more about myself, I asked you all to share assumptions and/or first impressions you had about me on Instagram so I can respond to them here. Several of the responses were similar, so I’ve narrowed them down and combined the top eight. I am shamelessly me and happy to share more about myself as we get started on this “blogger girl” (still sounds funny to say) journey. Now, let’s get into these assumptions and first impressions.

COOL BUT SHY

I’m far from shy, but if I come off this way, it’s likely because I don’t trust you and I’m still trying to figure you out (lol).

MAYBE A LITTLE SPOILED AND STUCK UP…. I WAS WRONG

Spoiled? Maybe. Stuck up? Not at all. Being spoiled usually has a negative connotation associated with its description, but it’s the way a person carries their “spoiled-ness” that should be considered. I come from a strict, middle-class family of two parents that always made sure I had everything I needed and then some. I was blessed to have that kind of upbringing, but don’t get it twisted. Nothing was ever given to me and I learned the value of working for what I wanted since my dad started giving me a $3 allowance in elementary school lol. Needless to say, my parents may have “spoiled” me growing up, but ya girl has always been taught to work for what she wants.

As far as the stuck-up part, maybe it’s the way I carry myself or the fact that I like nice things? Idk lol… I don’t think I have a RBF or anything like that, but this is an assumption I used to get often that’s far from true.

FAKE BOOBS

I’m flattered, but no.… I’ve never had fake boobs or enhancements to any of my body parts. In fact, I used to be self-conscious about my boobs as I stuck out like a sore thumb as the tallest, brownest, and only little girl who had to wear a real bra in early stages of elementary school. Mind you I went to a small school, but having boobs was embarrassing to me and I didn’t think they were flattering until maybe my high school years.

THAT YOU ARE A GO-GETTER AND KNOW WHAT YOU WANT OUT OF LIFE

I definitely go after what I want and somehow thrive off ALWAYS having something to do, which can be good and bad. I know that success is what I want out of life, but I’ve learned that my path towards that is ever changing.

VERY ORGANIZED AND PUT TOGETHER

I’m somewhat organized, but my life is still a hot mess most days lol… We can say that I’ve mastered organized chaos, which makes me look “put together.”

ALWAYS HONEST, SMART AND STOOD ON WHAT YOU BELIEVED

Honesty is a core value for me, FOR SURE.

I guess I’m kinda smart, but I do have ditzy moments. I’m intrigued by learning.

I’ll always hold it down for who and what I believe in, so that’s BIG FACTS.

THAT YOU ONLY NEED TWO HOURS OF SLEEP TO KILL IT EVERYDAY LIKE YOU DO

LOL honestly, I do get more than two hours of sleep but I could do better with my sleep schedule. Time management has played a huge factor in me being able to successfully tackle my daily list of to-do’s . Click here for some of my best practices around time management!

VERY SWEET, PRETTY, AND HELPFUL

Thank you for the compliment! I’d say I’m sweet for the most part. Honestly, I couldn’t tell you the last time I had a care in the world to give someone a taste of my sour side (I’d rather put my energy towards something productive). Helping others helps me as it gives me a sense of fulfillment and purpose, so I’m glad I come off as helpful! If I can’t help, you can count on me to help find a resource of someone who can.

THAT’S A WRAP. This was cool to do and interesting to see how I’m perceived by others – thanks to everyone who submitted a response! I look forward to sharing more about myself and my experiences throughout the year.
